POSITION: CONNECT PROGRAM COORDINATOR

OVERVIEW:

Friends for Youth has provided quality mentoring services to youth and families in-need since 1979. Friends for Youth

started the Connect group mentoring program to support in-need freshmen at Sequoia High School. In Fall 2017,

Connect will add two eighth grade programs and one tenth grade program to meet the demand for expanded services

during the critical transition from eighth grade into high school.

The Connect Program Coordinator will coordinate 8th grade mentoring programs at two feeder schools in Redwood City.

The Connect Program Coordinator will work with the Program Manager to facilitate the development of program goals

and curriculum, implement weekly programming at school sites, recruit and support mentorships, and assesses program

outcomes.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

School Program Coordination

Orient and support 8th grade students and parents joining the program.

Match mentors to student groups and provide ongoing support, updates and training.

Facilitate and help develop curriculum and activities (including field trips, mentor recognition, and summer

activities).

Maintain all required program documentation (e.g., Mentoring Logs, program evaluations, consent forms,

program binder, etc.)

Distribute program feedback and evaluations and complete assessment reports.

Assess and develop partnerships with organizations, schools and companies.

Volunteer Recruitment and Program Support

Identify and implement a variety of volunteer recruitment methods to increase the number of mentors. This

includes developing relationships and making presentations to community groups and corporations.

Facilitate volunteer recruitment, orientation, screening, interviews and training.

Develop outreach material and contact media outlets for publicity opportunities.

Assist with Friends for Youth event coordination including community and fundraising events.

HOURS: Full Time, flexible schedule

SALARY RANGE: Dependent on experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working with underserved youth and families and recruiting and supporting volunteers

Excellent organizational, communication and written skills

Ability to work well with diverse populations, team members and partners

Ability to work flexible hours

Experience in media relations, outreach, social media, event coordination, and public speaking experience

preferred

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred

Clean DMV record and auto insurance

Minimum B.A. degree or equivalent experience and at least 1 year related work experience
