Brandon, 10

Brandon loves to be active and outdoor. His favorite sport is soccer which he enjoys playing and watching.  His favorite type of music is church music, and his favorite TV show is Spongebob. He often plays video games like Call of Duty. Brandon enjoys talking to people and describes himself as very outgoing. Brandon struggles with esteem issues and bullying. He has little motivation for school and activities, except soccer. Brandon was referred to Friends for Youth because there has been a decline in his motivation since his mother’s passing, which has translated into difficult behavior and relationships with authority figures. A mentor can help Brandon by encouraging him in school and being a person to hear him out. He has expressed interest in college and could benefit from further exploration into that avenue. Brandon says there is no one outside of his family that he can confide in. Being a good listener and showing Brandon that he can trust an adult could help him significantly.
